So I said, "Well, I know I have to work to get me a job, but I want to do this with you." She said, "Okay." I said, "But you have to take this job seriously." She said, "No, I don't have to take it seriously."

When my mother came over, she had been a police officer for 25 years, and she said, "My father told me to come to college and make a better life for us. We're going to go to college, get good grades, and make something of ourselves." So my mom said, "Well, I've already put the years I've wasted on the bar. I've been drinking to forget. I'm going to spend the rest of my life doing better than that." She went through her whole life and she realized, "I'm not good enough. I'm not qualified. I just didn't have the right attitude.
